Our client in RTP is seeking an individual with research skills to collect data for a research study on tuberculosis. Job will require strict adherence to study protocol. Applicants must be available to work approximately 20 hours on average per week to travel across the state to abstract medical records. Scheduling will depend on the availability of the medical records and health department hours. The abstractor may work fewer or greater hours in a given week as scheduling and project demands permit. Job Responsibilities: Complete necessary training on for the project and pass proficiency tests. Abstract medical records. Provide progress updates to research team when requested. Maintain privacy of study subjects and data. Position/Educational Requirements: Required: High school diploma is required with at least three years of research or evaluation experience with human subjects including interviewing and abstracting medical records. Knowledge of medical terminology. One year experience working in a cross cultural setting. Attention to detail. Ability to follow a protocol. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work on a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, and overnight travel. Valid driver’s license with a clean record, and access to a car. Preferred: An Associate’s or Bachelors degree in a health-related discipline is preferred. Clinical training or experience is beneficial, but not required. Prior work in the tuberculosis field highly preferred.
