What is a Recruiting Firm?

In early December 2021, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported 11 million job openings in the United States on the last working day of October 2021, and only 6.5 million hires. The difference of open jobs to active hires was just over 5 million. In a market as competitive as this, we are seeing many hiring managers struggle to locate and land great talent. On the flip side, job seekers are being bombarded daily with numerous new job postings vying for their attention and, ultimately, their application.

Rather than spending hours upon hours searching for the perfect candidate, or searching for the perfect position, many job seekers and hiring managers have turned to recruiting firms to assist with their search. This, of course, begs an important starting question- what is a recruiting firm? What exactly do they do?

In short, a recruiting firm is a company that helps hiring managers grow their dream team, and helps job seekers land a foot in the door to their dream company. Some common questions:

Who pays for the service?

The company that is hiring either the employee as a direct hire or contract employee pays for the service only when the applicant is hired. 

Do you only offer short-term temporary assignments?

No, while some recruiting firms focus on temporary assignments, at Greene Resources, most of the positions we have available with clients are long term, contract-to-hire or direct hire.

Can I work with other recruiting firms?

Yes, there is no obligation to only work with one recruiting firm.

Why would I accept a contract position?

Contract positions are a great way to get a foot in the door with a company and validate your ability to be successful in the role.    We find that contract positions are a great way to learn new skills or break into a new industry.
