From May 14-16, three of our Greene team members attended the 2015 North Carolina Association of Staffing Professionals (NCASP) Training Event in Wrightsville Beach, NC. NCASP is a staffing association that was founded in 1966 whose function is to “promote the staffing industry in a positive, educational and ethical manner and act as a watchdog for legislation which might adversely affect the industry.” The keynote speaker for this event was Danny Cahill, discussing “Memoirs of a Mentor.” There were also roundtable presentations, discussing topics ranging from phone systems and background checks to healthcare and worker’s comp.
Some of our takeaways from this event include:
- The importance of being a true subject matter expert for clients and candidates in your field and being able to coach them on what is going on in the industry and in the marketplace with solid data and facts.
- Awesome quote: “Great work is the best marketing.”
- Regarding networking: 83% of LinkedIn in-mails do not get answered. Just finding someone on LinkedIn or CareerBuilder doesn’t mean they will ever get back to you. By asking your network for referrals you tap into a resource that may never come up otherwise.
- Red Nose Day: By taking our pictures with the red noses, NCASP and one the sponsors donated money to various charities that help support children living in poverty.
Another highlight of the week was when Janee Hill, one of our lead recruiters and a member of the NCASP Board of Directors, received the Rising Star Award! Way to go, Janee!
